Opened a bit cold so the nose was non existent. It opened up a bit with red fruit but was softly revealed. Red fruit throughout the entire bottle. Plumb and mild red cherry (not sweet), bright red raspberries that finish with spicy notes and mild tannins. A very pleasant wine with steak this summer evening. Happy to have 2 more in our cellar.

Curtis tasting room: Notes of plum, fig jam, cola and caramel. Ripe & juicy dark raspberry and cherry flavors, richly textured with hints of vanilla and spice on the finish.

Blind Tasting - New World Syrah and Red Blends; 1/17/2013-1/23/2013 (Woodley Park - Washington, DC): Bright raspberry and plums on the nose, and the lavender and incense notes make this a joy to sniff. A burst of crushed raspberry and red cherry fruit kicks off the palate, followed up with fine tannins and noticeable acid. Solid depth and intensity of flavors. Notes of coffee and loam are accented by a touch of creamy oak. A flavor that reminds me of an herb-crusted steak carries the finish, and it’s just lovely. Very juicy, yet well-structured. A blend of 39% grenache, 26% mourvedre, 19% cinsault and 16% syrah.

I liked this a lot. Really light in color and very translucent. I was expecting something very thin in flavor, but that was not the case. Big nose of dark red fruit and chocolate/coffee/caramel. Big fruit and slightly sweet flavors on the palate. This reminded me of many of the GSM blends coming out of Paso Robles. I need to try this again to get a better tasting note as my recollection is a little fuzzy. It was a bigger bolder red than I anticipated though. That I remember. A nice new red blend to add to my regular rotatioin.
