Ruby center. Beguiling aromatics of ripe fruit, incense, and herbs. Medium weight, real clay richness. Ripe but restrained black and blue fruit. Youthful and deep, not as exuberant as, say, Foillard but every bit its equal in terms of absolute quality. This is a stupendous cru Beaujolais.

Light garnet. A bit of brett that never got in the way, flowers, green herbs, and black fruit. Love the texture, weight, and soil here. Blackberry fruit and strong citrus oil that frames the acidity differently and less stridently than the cranberry of many Beaujolais crus. This gains both restrained ripeness and back end tannic grip as it opens. Truly excellent and it should have another 3 or 4 years of improvement ahead of it.

Gorgeous, deep ruby. Blackberry, smoke, creosote. Medium weight (which is to say, more substantial than most Gamay) with a lovely foundation of clay. Black and blue fruit, soil, well integrated acidity, a bit of orange peel, and a good dose of tannins. Just beautifully balanced, fairly profound Beaujolais whichs still has many years ahead of it. I recall being extremely impressed when I tasted the 2009 Impenitents at the domain, and this was just as tremendous, albeit in a more subdued style that speaks to the differences between vintages.

took a bit of patience, but finally opened my first bottle of "Les Impenitents". Very vivid on the nose : red fruit, pepper, minerality, quite "earthy". Elegant structure around a well balanced backbone of acidity larded with the same peppery notes from the nose. Good length, the kind you'd expect from this cuvée...
