French >$150 theme: My contribution. Surprisingly light golden in colour, especially compared to ‘00/early ‘10s wines which have been horribly corked / oxidised. Some guessed Bordeaux sweet but thought that given the light colour vis-à-vis the stage of development on the palate it could only have been a Chenin. Good freshness to the fruit with honey, pear and orange zest notes; age had moderated the sweetness. Can see why old Huet sweets can be indestructible.

Light gold in color. A complex nose shows quince paste, waxy fruits, orange zest, yellow florals and lanolin. A very balanced palate shows candied quince and apples, chamomile honey, medium+ acidity on a long off-dry finish. Not bad at all for a 38 year old Moelleux and a testament to the age-ability of Huet's chenin blancs.

Excellent nose of apple cyder with flowers, quince and honey and caramel. On the palate the wine is racy with sharp Chenin acidity balancing the sweetness. This is really great, not too sweet, more like a great German Spaetlese than a Sauternes. 96+

Pomelo, ginger, hints of musk melon. Still v alive, perhaps less acidity than expected though.

Gorgeous ripe fruits aroma - oriental melon, apricot, peach AND sweet ginger.
Nearly perfect, but it needed more acidity.
