Still going strong. The grassy-asparagus taste I usually associate with Grgich Hills Sauvignon Blancs was absent, whether due to bottle age or my food pairing (Halibut Pibil), and the wine was mellow and pleasantly fruity with no sign of tropicality or other adverse aging effects. Hadn’t tried an American “fumé blanc” in a decade, so thought I’d give it another go. Yeah, still the same. Oaky smokiness masks an otherwise insipid light wine. Yuck.

Really changed in the glass. Started out faint, but subtlety elegant and ended with a European Chardonnay profile. Got better and deeper with air. Worth seeking more from this winemaker.
