The wire-to-wire winner in a flight of three with 2016 Cos D'Estornel 94,94,95,95, 2016 Booker Ones Syrah 93,95,95,95. Scores around the table: 95, 97, 97, 97. A delicious Cab that held on all day while the others faded a bit. A full-throated Cab bursting with flavor. To catch up with the others, I poured it back and forth between two pitchers three times for aeration.

The wine of the evening at my father’s 85th birthday. Well rounded and expressive fruit with soft tannins providing structure. Delicious drinking now but can last another five plus

Was looking forward to this as I haven't had a Quilceda creek in over a decade. This was still in a dark concentrated style--but didn't get any overripe or blueberry notes. Quite tannic, with a little coarseness to the texture. Long powerful finish. I enjoyed this much more than the samples from the mid '00's, seem more balanced and pushing the ripeness less.

I thought this was a bit flat and closed down. Not sure why. Maybe because we had an Ovid along side the wine, which was way better. Who knows.
