Un nez plutôt discret de cerise, de petites baies, de vernis, de fines herbes ainsi que des notes florales et d'épices. Fruité, mûr, rond, chaud (15% alcool) et riche ainsi qu'une perception d'umami. Finale moyenne. Prêt à boire. 90+

Start with with neg - there is a shockingly sweet core that isn't unpleasant but requires food to balance. Same amazing texture as I had back at the Domaine (and carried this bottle back to US) with blackberries and a touch of umami that bends floral. Has a presence and dynamism.

Domaine la Barroche's 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Julien Barrot is comprised of 62% Grenache, 18% Mourvèdre, 13% Syrah, 5% Cinsault, 1% Vacarrese and 1% other varietals. Youthfully opaque ruby in color, it remains packed with dark bramble fruits, Provençal herbs, espresso, black tea, loamy earth and cocoa. Full-bodied, proportionately oaked and without any heat from its 15% alcohol (when served at 60-65°F), it buttresses the flavors with plentiful polished tannins and a backbone of fresh acidity. Solid in the middle and lengthy on the finish, this is a tremendous Châteauneuf that is now classic in quality. Give it at least an hour in decanter if you choose to pop the cork at this point. Drink 2023-2035.

Red fruit, Mediterranean spice and gravel makes this medium weight CdP very enjoyable for an entry level wine. Good juice.
