Some cherries find their way through the alchohol in the nose and ripe fruit mingled with cold minerals and licorice makes up the bulk of the taste. The wines is really focused, like a projector beam packed with power that just continues on and on. It's packed with smooth and integrated tannins, lots of acid and enough alchohol to knock you out if you aren't careful. The 2007 really maxes almost every parameter and for me that's exactly what I want. Big, dark, rich, lush. slightly ripe, cali-like, but very enjoyable. (64% Grenache, 19% Mourvedre, 11% Syrah, 9% Cinsault) (979 views) | | | Tasted by Anonymous on 8/15/2009 & rated 93 points: From the beginning soft and smooth. Ripe and pleasant sweet ripe red and black berries. Sweet liquorice. Soft tannin. Soft acidity. So full bodied and yet so elegant. Extremely harmonious and such a great pleasure drinking. Perfect without being extremely complex. Pleasant oak and garrigue. After double decanting 6 hours prior to the tasting it was a beauty and it continued to improve at least 12 hours after the decant. Then suddenly the bottle was empty. Will it ever taste better? (899 views) | | | Tasted by Billy Swan on 8/5/2009: Yee-HAH! Already when I'm pouring this in the decanter my head is spinning. Raspberrys, figs, cherrys, some kirsch, crushed mineral just rush out of the decanter. An hour later, served to grilled entrecôte with bearnaise and home-grown vegetables, it's lovely. Some meatish tones joins the berrys and mineral and like som other 07 C9Ps I've had it's like the fruit is swimming in something so creamy. It finishes with a wonderful twist of garrigue and licorice. Even though the mouthfeel is wonderfully creamy the acidity is there, just like tannins draped in velvet. This is outstanding. Very well defined with a nice richness to it
taste: very big tannins with an excellent medium feel. A bit of heat upfront with some black fruits, kirsch liqueur, meats, and some red fruits. Excellent depth with lots of purity of the fruits too
overall: will obviously need time. Very rich, but has a beautiful purity to it at the same time. Considerable tannins show that this will require time, but should leave a wonderful CdP when it comes around (1123 views) |
