Opened the day before. Drank a small glass. Pours a pale gold. Explosive, inviting, complex, and layered with quince, autumnal orchard fruits, almond paste, marzipan, camomile, honeysuckle, shortbread, and cold butter. Great concentration, impressive balance, and very long with pitch perfect acidity.

I think I actually preferred this when I tried it at an EP tasting in spring 2019, but it's still absolutely delicious. Quite important to get the temperature right, as it became a little bit rich and vanilla-y when too warm, whilst at relatively cool temperatures the wine has perfect balance: loads of phenolic tang and bitter herbs on the nose, which continue onto the palate and are joined by preserved lemon and a lactic quality, reiminscent of a lassi. At first there was also a sweet and spicy quality that brought to mind pineapple in ginger syrup. I didn't find this especially full-bodied, save that it's extremely aromatic and flavourful.

Reminded me of California chard, rich and oaky. Did not really enjoy it, bigger than expected

Has completely turned; apple is the dominant flavor. Tis a pity! I’ve got many more 2017 (and 2016) to work through.
