Tasted blind. Identified as Pommard or Volnay on the basis of the typical nervosité in the acidity. The stalks are pretty huge here, really grippy, youthful, closed, will take time. Score based on perceived potential.

Apart from the Corton Clos du Roi GC, this really was the standout wine in Domaine de Montille's 2017 line-up today. A slight floral touch to the nose, earthy, mineral, spicy with red and some dark fruit. On the palate pure fruit, powerful tannins, lots of acidity and with a great mineral spine. Very well balanced and serious. Fine length. 92-93+
