Oinoscent crew day out mayhem: The wine shows high intensity, full on buttery, ripe stone fruit, almond, nutty, very expressive, high intensity, medium to high acidity, long finish Heavy handed on oak, tannins from the oak, ripe citrus, nutty a touch bitter

The Phelps Freestone has become a bit of guilty pleasure in my household as a classy version of a slightly more overt Chardonnay to drink young. Interesting 5 point difference between Galloni (90) and Dunnick (95) on this wine. This vintage is slightly more medium bodied in presentation, but after being open for a few hours, the minerals really start to shimmer on the nose and there's phenolic substance that has me leaning towards Dunnick's enthusiasm. Galloni's 90 is hedged, so I'd take that as a fair pop and pour evaluation. This Chardonnay passes the drink at room temperature test with flying colours. 2018 Sonoma so far meeting high expectations.

Pleasant, creamy, rich, lemon, hint of oak and butter. Bit angular/bitterness on finish on day two.
