This bottle was a bit of a disappointment, over the hour that I served it. It just remained muted and closed, which is unusual for this wine, in my experience. Both the acid and fruit were tamped down. Mostly muted red fruits, pomegranate, cranberry, and a bit of cherry. Did not change much over two days. Just an off bottle

Light ruby. Cherry, cranberry on the nose. It gets more expressive with time in the glass. Medium body, on the heavier side for Pinot, but just a great wine.

Nose doesn’t give much save for a little evergreen forest floor, but purity of fruit on palate is amazing. Laser focused, ripe red fruits. Finish floats like a butterfly. Rivers-Marie Summa is always a favorite of mine and 2021 is not exception.

The purity of fruit is what makes this vineyard—and this producer—a standout for me. Robust yet refined notes of black and red plums and cherries, accented by cola, sassafras, and a medley of baking spices. This is a complete wine, possessing depth without being overpowering, and nicely pairing with tonight’s dinner of cacio e pepe.

Savory red and blue fruits, black tea and pomegranate. This is supported by a balanced structure of good acidity and very fine tannins with a really nice and lengthy finish. This an outstanding wine with upside potential. 94+ Drink now with a brief decant or 2025 - 2027+.
