  • This has been a genuinely lovely wine showing 1er Cru depth and character. It still seems quite primary with a deep crimson colour and a vibrant nose of red berry fruits with some blueberry notes. The palate is medium weight with plenty of primary fruit and touches of forest floor leading into a satisfying finish. The last of a much enjoyed case !

  • Drinking beautifully. Has the colour and the depth of the vintage. There's just a hint of undergrowth development sneaking into the aroma profile. It has a core of sweet blueberry and cherry fruit. Texture is liquid velvet and there's some musk and game that works brilliantly with duck breast. Balance and proportion are excellent. Still has plenty in the tank for further development.

  • Double-d c45 mins. Nose has striking red cherry skin, with a trace of beef. Bright and pure: remarkable fruit for the age. An immensely citric palate; a thrill. I note a drink-by date of 2007 above: a classic case of modern critics originally missing the idea of the closed period. Confounding for me too, in respect of my perception of '99 being a darker-fruited, moodier vintage. This village wine has 8-10 more years! Might gain more aromatic complexity as it calms. 93 now though!

  • Thankfully this was not corked as the last bottle. Wonderful nose of red fruit, iron, mushrooms and hint of spice. The palate matched with emphasis on youthful, pretty red fruit and earth. This has a ways to go but can be enjoyed now. Superb.

  • Sweet cherry fruits on the nose along with a little compost and ash. In the mouth the black cherry fruits are creamy and luscious. There is a strand of liquorice threading through the flavour profile and there is excellent depth. It has enough interesting development to enjoy now yet it is still quite youthful with plenty in the tank.
