Drank two bottles of this in the same week or early Jan. 2016. One was excellent; mature and smooth; in my opinion, ready for drinking. the other had a funk to it on the backend that concerned me; not sure exactly what it was. So, my advice is that if you are holding this wine, check it to see how it is holding up and possibly just plan to enjoy it soon.
would give it a 90 but a little more complexity and sophistication brings it to a 91...a little bit uneven, sometimes a little bit too raw and tannic and unformed...other times, a brilliant classic bordeaux...lacks elegance and finish...but drinking nicely...big taste and great value
Medium/deep ruby core, pale ruby rim. Clean, fragrant nose showing blackcurrant and bilberry fruit, earth, cedar notes. Medium bodied, attractive cool dark fruit, cedar, touch of vanilla, tobacco, tannins quite soft/supple, attractive fresh acidity, very good length finish with earth notes coming through. Lovely, composed. Drinking well, although no particular hurry. Excellent.

(Chateau Cantemerle Haut-Médoc) This is much more deeply coloured compared to the 1998, with youthful dark fruit and roasted nuts to be found on the nose. On entry, a slightly creamy style is apparent, with a ripe, nutty, rounded flavour and mouthfeel. This is concentrated, and firmly tannic, and yet maintains a supple presence. This is very good indeed, but demands 5-6 years cellaring as a minimum.
