This is one of my favourite wines and the 1994 was no let down. Magnificent colour and clarity, the golden sheen made it enticing just to look at. Decanted and served with seafood. Where as this wine would have been brilliant with oysters and prawns in its youth it didn't shine here, perhaps not unexpectedly. There was however still a considerable acid back bone that can extend its life another few years. Probably at its peak the wine improved with time out of the bottle and was memorable in its stucture and toasty and elegent finish. By the time the prawns, peaches and mango were eaten the wine was gone - another bottle would have been most welcome. Long live semillon from this winemaker - Australia's secret.

superb - excellent why Hunter Semillon is worth waiting for. Lemon, lime, waxy, hints of melon, rich honey; toast very secondary; even spice. Delicate yet intense palate, lemon, lime, still plenty of acidity to be light and refreshing. Finish goes on and on.

Pale, unevolved color. Subdued nose is nevertheless somewhat pungent, with waxiness and florality. Huge flavors for a wine of less than 11% alcohol, but unfortunately they trend strongly towards the bitter, so much so that even substantial food cannot round their edges. The structure, though obscured by the weight of the flavors, is there for at least a few more years. Impressive; not pleasurable for me, but should be for fans of the type.

A beautiful golden color. Quite youthful still, but with caramel, waxy, toasty signs of age. Lovely.

Honeyed nose with toast and lemon as well. There is an oily texture to the medium intensity palate. No rough edges, this was very nice drinking now.
