A very nice Sauvignon Blanc from a good bottle, ripe, balanced and harmonious. The nose shows remnants of white-yellow fruit, hay, white tea and a clear but not intrusive flinty aroma. On the palate a vital, ripe acidity, medium body, expressive in flavour, but not loud, very harmonious and with a medium+ length.

the nose was definitely oxidized and caramelized, as I had feared, with notes of pineapple jam. The acidity was still strong on the palate, though, and in fact it was pretty grippy. The second pour, after chilling for around half an hour, was leaner on the palate. With the temperature colder, this was drinking pretty niccely now.

Took a minute to come around- the wine and me to understand what this was, tasting blind I was the first on it, but a combination of factors led me to another really great producer but hypothetical at best (as if Raveneau had a St Bris), I should have picked up on the smokiness and struck flint that is so unique to this, the age has given this a little more of an aromatic appeal than this wine in its youth, deep, layered, viscous, rugged wiry and youthful, angular minerality, bitter melon, lots of herbs and green pepper, almost painfully intense this still has years to go.

Golden color, waxy note, honied, nutty; This was really dark and seemed like it had a lot more age on it than it did. Would have been ok for a 1998, not a 2008. Prematurely aged. DD at Akbar blind--Loire Whites.

Take this tasting note with a grain of salt. First, Sauvignon Blanc is pretty much my least favorite grape. The fruit here was fading in my view and it had the herbal grassy note in SB that I don't care for. The mineral streak in this wine was interesting, but couldn't offset the grassy bits. I like other herbal mineral wines, but not this one.
