I opened this from my wine cabinet not remembering where I got it or what I paid for it and was delighted to find how lovely it was; classy Rhone tones, with some graphite beautiful blue fruit. Was hoping this was cheaper than it was. At about $44 after tax from Costco, this was at least fairly priced. 93++pts.

Mouth: Smooth blackberry confiture, dried black cherry, and raspberry paste come through in layers, inlaid with notes of toasted thyme, black tea, lavender essence, and singed earth. Finish holds on to the darkened fruit, allowing it to continue singing from the center of the palate as a ribbon of lavender winds around.
Overall: Concentrated and dense, but dovetailed beautifully with darkened herbal notes - the layered fruit is the name of the game here, made smooth over the last 5 years or so. The finish is especially beautiful at this point. Drink now - 2032.

young and still a bit burly; presumed syrah black and blue notes with dusty tannins predominate, but it is still evolving in the glass; more strawberry as it warms up; a bit of heat on the modest finish. Likely has upside

Sweet grenache (strawberry, raspberry) on the nose; structured blue notes from the syrah on the palate. Medium bodied. Round finish. Curiously, was much better with cheese plate than with the main course - didn't work with balsamic sauce on roasted chicken.

Lovely in its youth, but should improve with a few years more in the cellar. Try again in a year or two.
