  • Closed on nose. Oak heavy. Too young and not enough decant to be approachable. Sense of depth.decent

  • Nice light tawny colour starting to show its age. Lovely nose of plums and blackberry almost going into a dried fruit characteristic but not quite. Still fresh given it is 8 years old. The notes from the oak aging give it a cedar profile which is also lovely. On the palate the alcohol is apparent and the acidity was nice. Flavours of black fruit, a hint of vanilla, and starting to get a bit smoky, but not many tertiary flavours coming through yet as it is a bit young. Overall a lovely wine with lots of power. It could have aged for much longer. However, it was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • I find the 2016 vintage to be sublime, but in this case I think more time in the bottle will improve this even more. On opening floral notes and black cherry (almost cola). After an hour this rounded out into a tasty and smooth black cherry and plum dominant palate, with rose, coffee and tobacco secondary notes. Fair bit of oak on this but super elegant and smooth, so no complaints about this. High quality though pricey, but I think it will get better. Easily has a couple of decades to go.

  • Earth, grit, acid and jammy undercurrents. Great for a weekday acidic meal like tomatoes or hearty cheese and crackers

  • A nice long decant, some red fruits, some thyme and rosemary. Drinking alright now, might be better in the future but this is honestly not good enough to waste cellar space. I payed around 70$ cad here for it and it's really easily beat by cheaper Brunello's. It's not a bad wine, just not much QPR here.
