Drank over dinner paired duck confit + seared duck breast. Not exactly an in season meal here in nyc for this summer but $18 for an entire duck is a great deal. Nose of red fruit and oak but well integrated. Soft, silky, medium body mouth feel. Red fruit finish again with medium acidity. It tastes super refined and dialed in but not very complex, rather 1 dimensional. Great wine to drink with friends just don’t expect anything profound

PNP. Nose shows deep red cherry, funk and some florals. Ripe palate, deep and rich with an overt fruitiness almost jammy. Not very elegant, this wine is on the riper side of burgundy.

A large scaled and a bit coarse Volnay that in the beginning reminded of a Sangiovese due to its sweet-and-sour style. Well developed and good for a Village.

(Comtes Lafon Volnay) A deeper medium, medium-plus colour. The nose is also deeper, showing more oak and a hint of reduction. Lovely coverage of the tannins and plenty of oak on the palate too, but the finish is pure and fruit-driven. Good wine.
