Decanted 1 hr. ahead. Very deep garnet color, almost inky, which is what you might expect from a Durif (Petite Sirah). The nose is good but shy, showing deep spices suggestive of old vines, blueberry, and blackberry. Somewhat soft on the palate, especially for a Petite Sirah, but full-bodied. Finishes quickly with black pepper, low grip and rather low tannins, another surprise for this variety especially with this deep color. I think they were striving for complexity here, and they almost made it. If you like your hearty reds on the soft side you may like this wine a lot. But if you hope for some structure and acid balance, well, keep looking.

Needs time perhaps. Pop and pour begins as water, finishes as caustic rough tannin. Let sit for two hours, mixes up a bit for drinkable daek cherry thin boied bomb in waiting. A tasting experiment, but don't serve the unsuspecting or un-warned.
