I don't like panning wines because I don't have the perspective of the winemakers insights but this is a wine that is not entirely agreeable to my tastes. Whilst there's some lovely red-fruitedness and stalk-tannin structure, I find the nose a bit volatile. Like a 100% whole bunch ferment that got a bit funky before the yeast kicked in. Some good length, layers of complexity, well balanced.... the hall marks of a great wine are there. Just the fruit is letting it down a bit.

Pinot Noir at Moncur (Bistro Moncur, Sydney): Ashy whole bunch, sour red berries and currants, slight sweet spice, sourly stalky, a little green on the palate. Nah.
