Grand Cru Pinot (Harbour 220/L15 131 Macquarie Street): Pretty strawberry fruit with touches of apple blossoms, stalks and wild ferments. All filigree and ethereal on the nose and so it proves on the palate. Kind of lovely…balance of soft yielding berry fruit to fine tannins and gentle acidity. This wine continues to impress.

Noisy New Zealanders (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Wild ferment, slight stalks lend a herbaceous note and the fruit is very much in the red fruit spectrum on the nose but all quite fragrant. Touches of clove and other sweet spice for me as well. Interesting nose. In the mouth it's juicy, fleshy and beautifully balance, long, red fruit dominant which integrates with fine tannins. Quite elegant and almost ethereal. Pretty clever and pretty good.

Pyramid Valley new releases: Cloudy colour with faded edges. Strawberry, rhubarb, charcoal, tar and funky dirt. Spicy on the palate, however the fruit feels quite dilute and seriously lacks impact. Disappointing.

It's an okay wine, but lacks sophistication and is now beyond drinking window.
