Emmerich Knoll - Three decades of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner (Restaurant Zum alten Markt, Munich): Glass: Gabriel Standard Tasting note is based on usually two different bottles. All bottles were coming straight out of the winery cellar in pristine condition. Clear medium golden color. Fresh and beautiful nose. On the palate very good pressure, surprising medium+ acidity for this warm vintage. Fresh, lots of yellow stone fruit, spices. Good balance and quite long and lingering finish. Drinks beautiful right now, but now hurry. 92-93

Also disappointing. There are some of the classic Grüner Veltliner aromas but the overfell impression of the wine is that it is a bit diffuse. Again, I don't really trust my Thanksgiving palate. I'll try another bottle sometime later in the winter.

Nose: The nose is extremely giving and aromatic with white pepper, ginger, spiced pears, white fruits, crushed rocks, red apples, and acacia flowers. There is excellent depth and balance even at this young stage.
Taste: Medium/full bodied with high acidity. The acidity is crisp and refreshing. The feel shows excellent depth and poise with white pepper, red apples, crushed rocks, ginger, and white fruits.
Overall: This is a top notch and expressive Gruner Veltliner. There is a real vibrancy to it that really adds to it at this youthful moment. I would love to see where this goes with a few more years of age, but it is wonderful right now.

More white peach and fruit than the other two smaragd of the gruner veltliner. Super soft and creamy on the palate. So darn delicious.
