Classic nose, leadpencil, earth, cassis. Medium body, still nice fruit, leather, integrated soft tannin. Nice of you prefer a more elegant style of bdx.

Seemed tight on opening with strong mineral and metal with a touch of black cherry. After a few hours it had smoothed out but was light on cherry and very thin.

Took a while to open. I decanted it, but after five hours, it was still pinched and kirschy, so I left it. Four days later, after two further tries, it finally opened properly, revealing a more appealing mixture of dark cherry and blackcurrant, quite silky and stylish, but still a little pinched and tannic. It certainly needs several more years in bottle and for the difference in price, I would rather have a Léoville-Barton any day.

First of 24.
Nicely structured, taut wine. Some stewed blackcurrant. Better than the 05. Will the fruit outlast the scaffolding?
Leave next bottle in 2025.

Académie des Cinquante Tasting and Dinner with the Académie du Vin de Bordeaux (Restaurant Entrepot, Amsterdam, NL): Walkaround tasting, brief note. Very similar in style to the Léoville-Barton, perhaps not as complex.
