  • These would have been better off having consumed 3-5 years ago , not bad just a little old . Secondary , good .

  • Christmas Wines w/ Family & Friends; 12/24/2014-12/28/2014: A light golden color with thick legs in the glass. Nose starts off with nuts and butterscotch but transitions to unique notes of green olive, spiced apple cider and oyster brine. Creamy body but bright acid, this wine is still lively but softened. The green pear and melon fruit is laced with notes of sea salt, oyster brine and raw almonds. Not exhausted, but probably shouldn’t have been aged this long. Still, for Christmas, my family had a lot of fun tasting it and discussing it. I don’t think I’d ever recommend this wine now to a casual wine drinker, but definitely an interesting and memorable experience. I’ve only ever had the 2006 vintage, but I’d like to try some newer vintages soon to see what’s going on.

  • Very nice chardonnay but for me not nearly as good as the 2002 and 2004 vintages, but then I like my chards big and buttery with tropical fruits and the 2005 was differently made from previous vintages and has moved away from that style. Improved a lot since last year as the raw citrus was muted and it gained a roundness and smoother texture than it showed last year. Very nice fruits, even if a bit too citrusy for me. Satisfying finish, if a bit quick to fall off.

  • It's been almost two years since we opened an 05 Maldonado. It's tending toward a straw color. The dominant notes in the nose and the mouth have changed to pinapple and cumquat. It finishes with a nice, clean (not-hot) brace of acid that allows this to work well with food. It does fall off fairly quickly on the finish. Still lively and fresh, it may have some time left, but I wouldn't wait years.

  • Awesome as always. This just hits the spot every time. Full bodied, round, rich, complex, notes of butterscotch.
