Second bottle I opened. Much less oxidation as the previous bottle but really ready to drink one day later. The oxidative nose vanished and was replaced by honey and citrus fruit. At this point the palate had this refreshing acidity and was long.

I was puzzled by the increase of oxidized bottles for this wine. Not having drunk white BDX for nearly 20 years, I decided to give it a try. I bought a half case of 75cl bottles. I opened the first bottle. Even after 22 years the fill level and cork were perfect. I double decanted the wine back into its cleaned bottle. The first impression was oxidized and maderized. The wine had indeed the character of a vin jaune of the French Jura region. This means very chemical. However, after 2 hours the wine started to change. The aggressive oxidation stepped back. Buttery notes and a touch of phenol came forward. At the palate, the wine had a medium body with a clear note of lanolin/waxiness and a long finish with refreshing acidity. On the second day, the wine was even better and I finished it on day 3. My take on this wine is that it is now in a transition state and may turn into something great in 3 to 5 years.

Well, the last one was brown and oxidized, victim of premox I guess... this bottle? Nearly perfect in every respect... how to describe this? Beautiful nose of citrus, gooseberries, marmalade... a certain minerality, an almost lollipop character, beautiful acidity, great viscosity, ultralong finish... definitely more temperate than tropical... absolutely complete.

Completely oxidized and maderized. Expensive waste of time.
