The wine was showing an oxidative nose with not much fruit. More reminiscent of Burgundy than California in the sense of earth and minerality. Lots of leather and old wood. Tannin: med-, Acid: med, EtOH: med. Was drinking well but needed 25 minutes to open up. Drink within the next few years.

California Vs Burgundy Blind (Frank Murray's Casa): Served blind. This bottle clearly showed aged qualities on the nose and the palate though the color was still very dark with not much bricking. Rich nose with notes of meat and oxidation. Dark cherry and tea palate with plenty of oxidized notes. Still good grip. Interesting but past its prime.

Burg Dinner (CA and France--Served Blind!) (Murray Casa): Has a barnyard note on it, stalky nose. I think several at the table guessed french. Juicy with the fruit hanging in pretty well for almost 20 years old. Smoked cherry. cedar and finishes with a sweet edge and barnyardy, old bones flavor. No votes and no points. Call it 9th place.

Enjoyable wine on lighter side with nice aged Pinot flavors.

WOTN. Fully mature, absolutely delicious. Well balanced, complex and intense. Good storage pays off. Delicious.
