Nebbiolo 1999-2009 at Gemma. Tasted blind. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of ripe red cherries, fresh tea leaves, earth. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), fine but very high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red plums, ripe red cherries, sweet licorice, herbs and tea leaves, tar earth. Long finish. Very good quality. Nice. Good fruit from this 2005.

Return to Piemonte!; 11/25/2021-12/4/2021 (Castello di Sinio, Alba, other various locations): The best of the group and a good reminder that even just a bit of patience (~15 years) can be well rewarded with barolo. Does not always have to be a very long time. Definitely a wine made to age and if this was drinking well it was by no means anywhere near the downward trend. Fruit was still very much there. Bolder structure. Tannin a hint drying. Enjoyable and only going up I think.
