≈35 min decant into a plastic, cylindrical pitcher which was then capped; Considerable sediment noted; Private Preserve after Day 1
N: Fragrantly attractive plums, poss so;;me rhubarb/straws, with notes of flowers & pyrazines
P: Med body; Rndish entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by a puckerish astringency which stays within hailing distance of the init frt as it fairly seamlessly evolves into a LONG, balanced finish with a tangy/swtness to the VERY innocuously firming tannins. Acceptable with the night's Smkd BBQ Chx & Pk Ribs, it WAS better by itself.
// Day 2: N ≈, slightly < intense; P very ≈ & has held well, going outstandingly with tonight's Chx Enchiladas (COSTCO MRE), the wine handling the dish's spice marvelously! 🙂
∑: While no reason not to drink ASAP (i.e., it won't improve further), based upon this bottle it should drink through '23, poss even longer. 13% ABV; My EXC+ (94,95/100 using that metric).
≈40 min decant into a plastic, cylindrical pitcher which was then closed; Med amount of sediment noted
N: Frt (blkberries?), flowers (violets?), choc, some pyrazines, & a bit of leather all there, the frt slightly atop; Some minerals as well?
P: Med, poss LM, body; RNDISH entry with still NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which stays within hailing distance of the init frt as it SLOWLY, seamlessly works its way through a BRIEF bitter/swtness & into a VERY LONG, balanced, ult pleasant finish to the mildly firming tannins. Went PARTICULARLY well with the night's Mashed Root Vegs (Mildly Swt) side, & quite well with the Berghoff BBQ ShRibs entrée, though might it even have been better with a thick steak? 13.0% ABV, & a solid EXC+ (94,95/100 using that metric). I was even considering my Exceptional-, though as it DID seem to fade after having been opened for ≈90 mins... 😕 Nonetheless, with perhaps < decant time this should still provide AMAZINGLY fresh enjoyment for the next 2 yrs or so! 👍 😀
