Not flawed :) Very nice, fully mature barbera. Lighter bodied as barbera should be, with good concentration and flavors of bright red berry fruits, cigar ash, touch of caramel, juicy acidity. Any tannin that was present is resolved. This seems fully mature, if not already heading down the other side.

First bottle (see previous) was corked. This was OK but still thin. Don't wait with this vintage. Cork, again, was perforated and showing signs of seepage.

Pulled the cork and was greeted with vinegary, sewer-y, perhaps lactic aromas. Took a sip and let's just say it tasted not unlike the nose (phew). Dumped the bottle into a flower vase (makeshift decanter at my friend's pad) and the wine seemed to spritz a bit as it filled the vessel, so perhaps this bottle has many problems. Curiously the wine almost pulled itself together with an hour of decanting, but remained undrinkable, the nose and palate still dominated by that strong whiff of vinegar.

Gone...corked. On its way to cooking vinegar. I have a few left, will see shortly. Stay tuned. Cork itself showed signs of seepage.
