Brassy colour. A whack of sulphur on the nose that stopped me in my tracks, though I know I’m sensitive to it. It will continue to dissipate but at 3 years , I’m surprised by it. Complex white fruit aromas hiding underneath it. Rich, lemony flavours with taut acid. S still very evident. Good weight and length. Good for Fiano. Day 3: Much better as the sulphur has cleared. I can enjoy it for what it is. Great structure.

Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Single-vineyard Fiano from Lapio, which is a top quality subzone. Bright yellow w/ a green hue. Med+ white flowers, white peach, ripe lemon, fresh herbs, tropical fruit, wet stone, & just a touch of oak from 30% fermentation in new French oak barriques. Dry, but with candied lemon notes. Med+ acidity, med+ alcohol (13.5%). Med+ body, pronounced flavor intensity & length, w/ a creamy, mouthfeel thanks to 8 mos. of lees aging. Very elegant and youthful, it should gain in complexity over the next several years.
