Still pretty tasty. No tannins to speak of, but none of the overwhelming “cherry” flavors that I am tired of. Probably better a few years ago, but no regrets tonight.

Second Sunday Group: 2008 Ken Wright Pinots (Fontina’s Italian Kitchen (MiY)): Double blind. Similar to A, with tobacco and herb notes, but where A was red fruited, this has mixed fruit qualities. Here too there is nice tannin and acid, with darker fruit on the palate. Tea leaf, black fruit ane perhaps even coffee or mocha notes. Dark fruit continues on the palate, finishing with good length and balance. 91+ pts.

2008 Ken Wright Cellars Guadalupe Vineyard is gorgeous. The CellarTracker consensus was that this was dead, but it is very much alive and magical in the way only aged Pinot Noir can be. Boysenberry, dried herbs, licorice, tanned leather, and Asian spices. It doesn't get much better than this.

Perfect cork. Deep purple color. Pronounced fruit to this, heavy black cherries and black raspberries, almost candied, lingering licorice. Tart fruit has overcome the tannins and dominate the profile. Might have more in common with California Cab than Burgundy, but still a fun, big fruit wine. Drink now, while it still has the fruit.

(Ken Wright Cellars Pinot Noir Guadalupe Vineyard) Plum-garnet color. The aromatic nose sends up notes of wild strawberry, sour cherry, raspberry, allspice, and dusty mineral. The moderately textured palate is also highlighted by red fruit, backed by noticeable acidity and grainy tannins. On the finish, the wine becomes more complex, with hints of espresso and green herb. Sweet raspberry, nice spice, an elegant and gorgoeus pour. Held up well, but drink up at peak for sure.
