First bottle of this. Decanted 30-40 minutes but it should have been longer. Seemed very soft and simple at first although quite pleasant, but by the time we finished dinner this was much firmer and the tannins more apparent. Still, I won’t expect this to improve a lot beyond the next couple years. Good red berry fruit, some cedar notes, rather soft and supple fruit. Easy to drink.

Gosh this is good. Modern Cantemerle but in no way souped up, just fresh, quite ripe for the vintage, and classy oak. Showing very well today, tempting to give it years more in the cellar in the hope that it turns into one of those glorious old Cantemerles. Not something I’d have thought for a 2008.

Already while pouring the wine into the decanter, I noticed a strong smell of black fruits. This might be interesting.... What came out after an hour in the decanter? In the foreground there is a lot of cedar, a wet forest, minerals and then somewhere there are black fruits. Delicate aromas, but easily noticeable. The taste is also similar. No "heavy elements" such as cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant. Lots of minerals, herbs, black tea and red fruits. It seems as if this drink is closer to Burgundy than Bordeaux. Do I like it? Moderately. To make sure the balance is complete, I need some sweetness here. Nice finish with red cherry, raspberry (!) red currant and soft tannins. Acidity is present from beginning to end and would be perfect if the wine's characteristics moved a little to the sweet side. Excellent QPR 25 € per bottle WE - 91 WA - 90 Jeff Leve - 88 WS - 87
