(PIAUGIER Gigondas) 2007 Gigondas Dear Friends, I probably shouldn't send this out on the day of my big Riesling announcement but I only have until tomorrow morning so here goes... This will be short and to the point (short for me) - for a Cote du Rhone Prestige price, you get a 2007 Gigondas that is among the finest bargains of the vintage. Without sounding like marketing fluff, this is a potential contender for my Rhone deal of the 2007 harvest - it is so enjoyable that many of you will laugh at the price once you taste it. This harkens back to circa 1990-1995 pricing and the quality is the equal of the top wines of the appellation (with presence to burn). After many years of the old-guard underperforming, this estate really came of age during the 2003-2004 harvest. A new generation is at the helm and they are going places quickly. There is already enough fervor over the vintage in general that I don't really need to go on. I would consider this to be a very low-risk investment from a growing season that turned the potentially mundane into a galaxy of stars. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for crazy price/value in a top vintage: This parcel is directly from the cellars at Piaugier at an eye-popping price for 2007 (about the same as in France): 2007 Domaine du Piaugier Gigondas Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone7222
