  • A fantastic wine! Totally integrated tannins and slightly sweet finish. The nose is what makes this: tea leaves, cola, and that very unique Henschke aged aroma. Drink up if you're still holding any

  • (Italian Brunner) [vertical with 1999] {Shiraz cab malbec} cola nut, formic acid, smoke and leather pong. Still green and minty, herbaceous, with coconut shaving, ink and ending with soft stems and sweet tea, glycerol, cola nut and a long sustained finish. Still vibrant, complex, translucent and silky with an elegant verticality. Last bottle!

  • Bill's Monthly Lunch - June 2013 (Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind – Ripe Aussie nose with very sweet and grapey fruit on the palate. Finish was even sweeter. Simple and too sweet for me. Not a fan of this.

  • (Brunner 2 of 3: Post-Australia Day BBQ@Geoff's w Ads, Just, Mich&Bo, Derek&Tessa, Craig, Mike) Dark garnet, almost black in glass, showing sweet tobacco leaves, dark berries, chocolate dusting, and slightly diesel funk on the nose. Certainly youthful still, this bottle shows rich, juicy sweet blackcurrant, dark herbs and smoke on the palate, yet keeping a magical transparency and cool-tea sweetness despite the concentration, ending on a long lingering note of minty eucalypt, licorice root, and old wooden chests. Yummy, and pairing perfectly with Geoff's fantastic paperbark-smoked leg of lamb, all juicy, sweet and smokey.

  • Dark garnet, rich nose of dark plums and black cherries, gumdrops, kirshwasser and eucalypt mint. Generous fruits on the taste, juicy plums, good acidity, and incredible concentration. Some tar, capsicum and tobacco, along with earth notes, betraying just a hint of stewed fruits. Cool-tea on the finish, leading to a fascinating minty earth. Soft, silky tannins. Textural wine, expressive, and amazed it's retained its power and balance all these years. Very well made.
