(Novy Family Wines Syrah Napa Valley) Group's #8 (my #1) – 104 pts; 2, 2, 0, 0 - dark red violet color; tight but intriguing black fruit and tar nose with a touch of green peppercorn; nice, ripe and tasty blackbery, mulberry, berry and tar palate with good texture and balance; medium-plus finish (declassified Page Nord fruit, 70% from young vines and 30% from older vines near the river; Adam's #1 wine of the 10 at the tasting too, this will be a tremendous value at $20 or so on release)

This was an impressive wine and a great value. Good nose and nice layers of ripe fruit, toast and vanilla. Well integrated acidity and minerality.

Belated New Years Celebration (Mark and Erica's - Roehampton): Love this producer and this wine. A stolid Syrah that isn't overdone, well knit and confident. Drinking perfectly and considering the peppery firmness on the long prominent finish, there's no rush.
