Too bad it was my last one. Decanted for 2 hours and drinking perfect. Showed less sediment than expected, still showed some nice magenta highlights in the color. On the palate were berries, plum, earth and spice and the acid, fruit, tannin balance still in tact - loved the wine.

This bottle, purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, was decanted and serially tasted over a 2-3 hour period. It is still quite deep ruby/red, and the nose shows moderately intense aromas of cassis, Asian spices and cedar. Full-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, medium residual angular tannins and well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.2%). The flavors are similar to the nose and the middle palate is solid. The medium-length finish is a bit astringent. While certainly pleasant, this wine has not developed into anything special despite more than a decade of cellaring. The nose and flavors are not particularly complex and the tannins are still a bit rough. I doubt that it will get any better, but the wine (assuming properly cellared) should remain quite drinkable for several more years. Drink now-12/17.
