Nose very peppery almost unbalanced just after opening. It took a couple of hours to the wine to be more balanced with savory aromas. The pepper still dominates. Slightly sandy tannins. Update: much better the second day, the pepper is harmonious with the other notes and the tannins are smooth

Tasted side by side with the '10 vintage, the '09 is much more ready to drink now - really nice and a great value. The nose is quite sauvage and what I think of us as classic Cornas. On the palate very integrated tannins, dark fruit and olives and grilled meat notes again with the forest notes. Really nice - wish I could find some of these for the cellar.

Revenge of the Cornas (Michaeangelo Hotel): Another little gem from this producer. There's the black fruits and the hints of floral and just this wonderful finesse to the wine (again, just great acidity). Keeps everything feeling very fresh and almost a bit light on its feet event while the wine is still quite powerful.

Last bottle and this feels about at its peak. Rich sweet dark fruit in perfect balance with the tannins, gentle liquorice and spice.

My first of 6, plenty of tannin and structure for the next 5 years plus, balanced with fresh redcurrants, and a hint of black olive and pepper.
