PnP w/30 min decant. Minor sediments. Beautiful purple color no hint of brown edge/bricking. Some funk upon opening. Fully mature w/usual traits of an older wine. Must, tobacco, tar, slight cork, wet forest/paper, leather, dark but still decent fruit. Held up well considering. Nothing off. Good example of aged Claret. $36
Dark, with minor discoloration , if any. Pretty berry, mild vanilla and light cedar. Quite elegant, but in a somewhat new world way (oak?). medium-full bodied, with good length. Silky finish. At peak, but likely to hold fine for 5-10 at this state

(Chateau Cantemerle Haut-Médoc) This is much more deeply coloured compared to the 1998, with youthful dark fruit and roasted nuts to be found on the nose. On entry, a slightly creamy style is apparent, with a ripe, nutty, rounded flavour and mouthfeel. This is concentrated, and firmly tannic, and yet maintains a supple presence. This is very good indeed, but demands 5-6 years cellaring as a minimum.
