Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin Singapore - Back to Basics 2012 (Absinthe, Bukit Pasoh): This was a very nicely matured Savigny that was just starting to drink very nicely. Clair's Dominode bottlings are always long-lived, but this is really quite an achivement for a humble 1er Cru from a vintage like 1997. It had a characteristic SLB nose of strawberries, cherries and floral aromas wed to an earthy undertone. Nice. The palate had a fresh, clean clarity to it that I really liked, with pure flavours of strawberries and red berries accompanied by little touches of earth and briar and a waft of violets at the finish. The tannins and acidity on this had melded together into a nicely integrated whole that made for a really gentle, but ever so delicious mouthful. I think it is fair to say that the whole table enjoyed this quite a bit. Good stuff.

Dinner at Wasserman's. This is a wine that Oregon and CA pinot lovers will adore. Luscious, a tad extracted, and sweet. Nice wine to finish off the evening.

Medium ruby red, quite wide paler rim, no browning. Modest legs. Light nose, red fruits, with a slight floral lift and a touch of spice. Surprisingly medium bodied after the nose, with decent acidity and clean fresh red fruits. Quite lightweight structure and tannins behind it – if the fruit goes its all gone ! Finish very modest but cleanly fruity with a touch of oak. Overall a nice clean and fruity wine, but nothing like as serious as I expected. Not one to keep. 14/20 (13%)

(Clair Bruno Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Dominode) Wide, sweet and interesting aromatics - some dried fruits in the background. Plenty of grainy tannin, but it’s ripe tannin - nice density and the fruit is pleasant enough. This is also very good and like the Pavelot also requires another 3 or 4 years in the cellar.

Après plus de 20 ans, cela reste terreux, ferreux et tannique. Indestructible et très bon !
