deep dark ruby with no bricking and medium-plus body. somewhat reticent nose of red cherry, garrigue, black olives, bay leaf and hints of lavender. more generous in the mouth, but still somewhat restrained with a mellow entry of dark fruit over black tea; it opens in the midpalate with fresh raspberry, some meaty notes of game, and a savoury balsamic streak accented by herbs. white pepper leads into the moderately long finish.
seemingly mature, but with life ahead still… a delightful, nuanced CdP.
14% stated AbV; 80% Grenache/ 10% Mourvèdre/ 10% Syrah; all varietals are co-fermented; some Grenache vines go back to 1901.

One senses the lightness of the 2004 vintage. Airy and elegant cherry fruit, white pepper and garrigue. Balance and precision, nothing sticks out. With Niels at La Contadine.

It's all about the white pepper here. Showing the vintage's cool, blue attitude with Grenache playing the base. Garrigue galore, plenty of local feel. Open for business, certainly - but no hurry. #Bagnols-en-Fôret

Very local with marks of cherry fruit, white pepper and garrigue. Elegant and lighter in style compared to the 2003 and 2005. Great with lamb in garlic/rosemary sauce. There’s 10 years left here, easily.

Quite good - screams aged CdP with its garrigue / stewed fruit / soy sauce. Not spirits, tannins resolved. Even has some acid, enough to hold it together. This is the CdP I remember from before Parker and climate change. Yum.
