Opened for a friends 40th bday. Had this right after a 2002 Pride Merlot and wow, this tasted way younger than the Pride. If I had tasted blind I would've thought 5 years or younger. That's from my non-professional opinion of coarse. I have one more bottle and I'm going to try and not touch it for at least 5 more years. It was in your face fruit with almost no signs of age, big and jammy with notes of smoked meat. Almost no pepper though. Fantastic bottle if you love syrah/shiraz.

I kept this for many years in my cellar because I wanted to know if the exhuberant fruit turns into something more complex and adult. But it´s time to drink this up. So this is my second bottle in 3 weeks.
Still pretty fruity and easy to drink. Long, full bodied. Not jammy but still not very interesting actually. Just a bit less fruity and a bit less lush than ten years ago. Still a crowd pleaser but not really my Cup of tea.

Wow. At 20 years old the 1996 Dead Arm is (finally) starting to show sign maturity. No longer pitch black - but still very dark. Great Shiraz spice and fruit but also elegant secondary notes. Incredibly long finish. In a perfect spot now. But no rush - there is still plenty of life in this beauty.

40 years of Wine Tasting at DWS with John Pudduck and Graham Archer (Dulwich Wine Society): Big! Ripe Red and Black fruit tempered with mushroom, earth and tobacco. In a very good place right now.
