The wine really smelled of alcohol on opening but that blew off after a 15 minute decant. very rich wine with notes of meat and dry fruit with a bit of spiciness as well. real mouthful of wine as well and just got better through the night. There was about a glass left over that i left open through the night and it was even better the next afternoon. totally smooth and lush - really a great wine. Don't think that there is any rush to drink these yet.

(d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm) Group's #1 (my #6) – 35 pts; 3 firsts, 2 seconds, 1 third, 1 last place – deep black red violet color; sweet roasted meat nose; plush, concentrated berry and plum palate, tangy, tight yet; medium-plus finish (improves and opens a lot after 45 minutes in the glass)
