Deep, dark colour with ruby rim. Decanted for an hour, during which time the wine opened up considerably. Moderate bouquet of blackberry, plum, mulberry, chocolate, and mocha. Palate consistent, surprisingly elegant despite being full-bodied; smooth and balanced, with a long finish. Excellent, in its prime. Tasted June 2015.

(d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm) Group's #1 (my #6) – 35 pts; 3 firsts, 2 seconds, 1 third, 1 last place – deep black red violet color; sweet roasted meat nose; plush, concentrated berry and plum palate, tangy, tight yet; medium-plus finish (improves and opens a lot after 45 minutes in the glass)
