A bowl of black truffle consomme, fine enough for VGE (Valéry Giscard d'Estaing), with undercurrents of dried black olives and salted lime. Acidity is still ripping, too.

2 hour decant. Near golden yellow with full nose of Apple, pear, and buttery pineapple. Same on the viscous palate, with the additions on lanolin and nutmeg to go with slight oak. A little hot yet on the finish.

This wine is what made my wife and I really appreciate Chardonnay. Unfortunately it's our last bottle. The nose is intense with aromas of lemon oil, marmalade, hazelnut and touch of mineral. At almost 9 years of age it has developed a nice golden color but it was always pretty dark if I remember correctly. Palate has flavors of lemon, butterscotch, lime and again a hint of mineral. Got a touch of heat on there as well but not enough to be a detriment. Ends with a very long finish of at least 30-35 seconds. just as good as I remember it and it seems this wine still has a lot of life.
