Decanted for 30 minutes. Very aromatic and has that new world pinot smell. Sour cherries on the palate. After an hour the taste and smell started to disappear. Fruit is struggling to come back but I think its beyond its prime. Too bad...this would have been a strong 93.

Drank at the CWM. Took awhile to open up. At first we thought this california pinot noir was done..almost no fruit left. We took a couple sips and set it down. Revisited it several minutes later. The fruit was trying to come out but just wasn't happening. We let it sit there for another 20 minutes and surprisingly it started to show. More fruit on the nose. The menthol/anise cigarette smell dissipated to show bright red fruits. On the palate you could taste some muted cherries some oak. Certainly a little past it's prime but enjoyable right now. I gave it a 91 out of respect. Patz and Hall pinots are great. I waited too long on this one. I'm not waiting too much longer to drink my last bottle. We think this is a good showing of drinkability of some California Pinot noirs. Drink them within 5 years of bottling to experience their potential.

Tasted at Pinot Forum highlighting back vintages of RRV. Sweet, aged nose, burnt sugar, stewed raspberry. Drink up if you have some.
