For a 2000 vintage, purchased in 2005 and cellared until 2013, I was very happy with the amount of fruit remaining. Served it with a grilled dinner, decanted for about 2 hours before serving. It's an old world wine with balance and finesse. It held up well during the 13 years since bottling. My dinner guests even broke away from our conversation topic to comment on the noticeable fruit in the wine.

Well structured wine. Good nose, mature notes, but more than adequate acidity and nice fruit for its age. Well stored wine, still at its peak although outside its normal drinking window. Very pleasant indeed

this may be the first time that i have given an 88 rating to a wine. i have rated many wines 89 and this one does not measure up. i might have given an 87 but i need to show that i like it a little more than other tasters. i do not find the wine to be flawed. it is just not that interesting. there is good structure and balance but the fruit seems to recede at the back end. at the sale price of $16 this was probably ok although there are other more interesting wines at the same price point. i would not pay the original retail price of $20.

The style is just great for my taste. Right amount of acidity to pair with almost all italian food, still showing just enough fruit to balance it. Old world, nothing like the hot fruit bombs. It doesn't seem to be made to shine on it's own but rather a companion to make the whole meal shine brighter.

Disappointed, as I hand carried this bottle back from Italy. Simple wine, tasty but much better Montepulcianos out there.
