This is a really terrific chardonnay, about as classic as it gets. I don't think I've ever had one from California as pure and crisp as this. The fruit is so bright you gotta wear shades, and it has a tactile minerality giving it a chalky, sandy texture that makes you think of the beach. Next time I have to try this with lobster. Not much of a fan of the Vogon poetry on the label, though.
Its a wine that in some ways mystifies me. Or confuses me. There is so much going on, yet I don't have a handle to put it on - it doesn't quite come across like Chardonnay, although it holds close to Santa Cruz Chardonnay but yet is also like no other (thinking Ridge or Mount Eden). Is it the fruit? the winemaker? And what does this all mean? I would guess that it is really good, and unique, hence my baffle.
To the wine: even better on day two. More harmonious, resolved, powerful, of its self. Lemon and stone high tones back up with a savory, nutty palate and then super high acidity.

Well, its not oxidized, its not Jura, its probably got enough TA to kill a cow. It does have the dried green apple edge to it. A Chenin edge. If you ever get the chance to have it in the shower, its a mind-scrambler, I am being told, ala Weird Science.

What bags wrote. What good Chardonnay: no frills, all lean, lithe delivery. $30. The winemaker here knows what he's doing; ditto his pinot.

yup. this is really good. More in the Chablis spectrum than classic Burgundy, but enormously clean and bright and alive.
