2003 Burgundy Dinner (Nicolas Restaurant, Teck Lim Street, Singapore): Enjoyable. Like many of the wines tonight, this had a very alluring nose - dark cherries, spice, earth. Very masculine, but really attractive. The palate was a touch rustic as would be expected from the maker and vintage, but had a nice shape, with fine tannins and good acidity framing firm flavours of dark cherries tinged with a little floral and spice. Strong finish too - plenty of muscle underlying sweeter dried red fruit note. Drinking nicely now.

Drank over 3 hours. Very ripe nose of cherry, strawberry and some mineral. The palate matched with more wood and spice in addition to red fruit. Fairly tight and angular texture. Modern in style--this could be a CA Russian River pinot. Medium finish with fresh acidity and some tannin.

A private tasting and dinner (Leiden): Superb. Noble wood, enchanting sweet fruit, perfect weight, freshness and style, not a trace of heat, very clean flavours, flowers, subtle.
