  This wine pours medium ruby in the glass with medium minus bricking toward the rim. The nose is lovely, old school and maturing showing complex (and Bordeaux-esque) notes of leather, light roast coffee, cigar box, dark cherry, plum, and wet hay. Hugely appealing and wonderfully complex. The palate is also nice though doesn't quite live up to the nose with lovely dark cherry on entry turning to medium tannin (that is lightly astringent) and medium acid, and then finishing quite long on abundant cigar box notes. I really enjoy this and while quite closely resembling Bordeaux the profile of this wine is just wonderfully appealing. Great bottle and live up to the fabulous 1994 I've had previously.

  2 hour decant. Disapointed doesn't even get close - listed by GN for 45 euros (thankfully i didn't pay anywhere near half that). Decent colour, decent nose, decent, somewhat faded taste, and a decent finish - reasonable vinho da mesa, but nothing more. (A little better after 4 hours)

  At the start, the fruit came out for some minutes . After decanting one hour, it still has a sweating smell, and slowly evolved to a tobacco, leathery, marmalade aroma reaching its peak after three hours . Very pleasant, marked acidity, soft tannins. Very food friendly. Recommended.

  C.B.V.P. - Vertical Quinta do Côtto (Santo Colomba): Rubi limpido. Na taça de degustação parecia ter algum defeito pelo aroma (suor). Servido novamente em taça bordalesa revelou aromas intensos de frutos vermelhos, resinoso, herbáceo, especiarias, chocolate. Na boca corpo sedoso, alta acidez, taninos finos e em grande numero. Boa estrutura com fruta farta, madeira bem integrada e bastante elegância. Potencial para evoluir, deve melhorar ainda. Final longo. Excelente.
