To me, at first, the nose, and the palate had way too much oak. But, by the second sip, they convinced me that, no matter the amount of oak, this wine has the stuff, and the balance to handle it. This is real Chardonnay. Great deep golden color. Refined, slightly closed nose of ginger, white flowers, pineapple, lemon and apple. Full, rich palate of more pineapple, pear, apple, and peach surrounded by some brown spice. One of those wines so balanced, you can't easily pick out the components. Handles the 13.9% alcohol easily. The oak fully integrates as it crosses the palate. Vibrant acidity that does it's job effortlessly. The finish exhibits a very finely tuned minerality that so well compliments the fruit and non fruit components.

Beautiful, distinctive pineapple bouquet, with the pineapple carrying over to the patate, as well. Good acidity, with no alcohol aftertaste. Afficianados and neophytes will enjoy this wine.

Westwood Country Club Annual Holiday Wine Tasting (Westwood CC, Vienna VA): the nose and palate were a huge dose of pineapple juice melon liqueur. For anyone who has ever been to the Tropical Isle in New Orleans' French Quarter, this is the Hand Grenade of wine. (Hand grenade = equal parts pineapple juice, sour mix, melon liqueur, and grain alcohol...)

This isn't your everyday sipper. A bit heavy on the oak. Strong melon and citrus at the start. Rich weight with lots of creamy butter.
