Two friends sharing three bottles of wine - Palmetto Bluff (Hilton Head Island - Charlie's Coastal Bistro): Slightly shrunk cork. A bit cloudy right red color. Medium expressive nose displaying sweet dry red fruit, a hint of madeira and VA, light caramel, roasted almond, leather, sweet spices and earth. Very good concentration, subtle but sweet dry red fruit, silky and rich, medium acidity, earthy mineral, and a medium long sweet dry red fruit driven finish with a hint of VA and Madeira at the end. Clearly a bit past example, no great wines, just great bottles.

Light colored like a drop of cherry juice in weak iced tea when opened in the AM. You could read 10 font newspaper through this without any problem. Not that color is linked to quality in nebbiolo, but it's always a nice thing to note how pale can sometimes be profound, or in this case still very good.
Autmnal on the nose. Truffles, decaying leaves, tar, and balsamic undertones On the palate, more expansive, not rich, but effortless and running on the palate like mineral water. Broad and sappy yet at most mid weight. Pretty and subtle, for sure fading, but lovely nonetheless. This wine in particular absolutely popped with the black winter truffle risotto. It gained a savory umami level and synergy with the dish that no other wine poured up to that point did. Interestingly, an ounce or two the following morning, left in the open bottle had gained a little richness to the palate and gained a little redder nebbiolo fruit. Beautiful and fading. Graceful wine. 91

Never had a Barolo this old. We were celebrating our new partners and wanted something special. The nose was crazy funky like old stale parmasean cheese, almost terrible to smell. The color was a very soft brown. But man, once you get it on in your mouth it explodes with complexity. Fruit is still savory and very well balanced and structured. Some tannins remained. Blew me away with the way it tasted. Just amazing.
